The Cochrane Collaboration is an international organization working to help people make well-informed health care decisions by the preparation, maintenance and promotion of systematic reviews on the effects of healthcare interventions. For additional information please visit: www.cochrane.org
CRG is home to the Cochrane Bias Methods Group (BMG), one of eleven Cochrane Methods Groups world-wide and is comprised of individuals with an interest in raising awareness of the problem of bias in systematic reviews. The BMG explores important questions surrounding the epidemiology of research results and outcomes, and different forms of bias such as ‘publication bias’, language bias’, and ‘outcome variable bias.’
The BMG is one of nine Canadian-based Cochrane entities, and is an active member of the Canadian Cochrane Network and Centre (CCN/C). The CCN/C works with each Canadian Cochrane entity to help fulfill the vision and mission of The Cochrane Collaboration in Canada.

The BMG receives infrastructure funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) as part of their commitment to fund Canadian Cochrane entities (2005-2010). This infrastructure support is used for a variety of activities including training, workshops, travel, dissemination activities and a full time coordinator position. The BMG is grateful to these funding agencies for their support.
The BMG core group includes three convenors, Dr. David Moher and Profs. Jonathan Sterne and Doug Altman and one coordinator, Ms. Jennifer Tetzlaff. Dr. Moher and Ms. Tetzlaff are based at the Chalmers Research Group.
